”My desire, though, is to stimulate art viewers to explore their own interpretation of my work.  When they connect with the art, I’ve succeeded. This is a process balanced between the artist’s creative desire and the interpretive acts of viewers. Art is ultimately about that human connection.” - Mark Yearwood

VL Magazine Artist of the Day is Victoria Pendragon

Most of my work is on the small side, so that the viewer can experience intimately, as one might experience one’s own self in contemplation or a lover in the act of love, the depth and complexities of attachments, attraction and energy in the physical world. Men and women, where they appear in my work, represent all men and women, my couples, all couples of all kinds. My work is about our One-ness, our same-ness, and, perhaps ironically, our marvelous diversity and uniqueness. I see woman as Goddesses, men as Gods and all of us as the creators of our realities...personally and passionately empowered. I see the earth as nothing short of a wonderland. I stand in constant awe of every aspect of life and I create to honor it.

Vanessa Katz loves the freedom that abstracts give her to express her emotions and desires to evoke emotions through her work.  She is fascinated with shapes, colors, textures, movement and the shape between the shapes, nature and trees and this can be seen evident in her work.

© Spring Bling By Dyan Newton

Dyan is inspired by the beauty of a summer day or the innocence and awe she sees on a child's face.  That is what Dyan wants to capture in her paintings and convey that feeling to the viewer:  the same joy that she felt when she encountered the scene originally.    Many viewers say they love her paintings' vibrant colors and how they radiate “happiness”.

"Painting is a huge part of my life and I try to work several hours each day. Surrounded by sea it is natural to be influenced and inspired by such changing beauty and this I try to capture in my work.  I paint in oil, acrylic, pastel and mixed media and my subjects vary according to my passion at the time. However, I am particularly drawn to seascapes and skies as they have moved me for as long as I can remember. Creativity is a wonderful gift which I use in many ways, but art is very close to my heart and something I could not live without. "

Ever since I was a little girl I drew, painted, photographed nature and knew I wanted to be an art teacher or an artist.  Nature has always been my subject matter whether expanse views or closeups of nature. After many years of studying Art  and teaching art & art history in both the U.S and thirty plus years  at Dawson College in Montreal, Canada. Upon retirement  a number of years ago I could  now devote full time to painting on a full time basis.
