"Painting is a huge part of my life and I try to work several hours each day. Surrounded by sea it is natural to be influenced and inspired by such changing beauty and this I try to capture in my work.  I paint in oil, acrylic, pastel and mixed media and my subjects vary according to my passion at the time. However, I am particularly drawn to seascapes and skies as they have moved me for as long as I can remember. Creativity is a wonderful gift which I use in many ways, but art is very close to my heart and something I could not live without. " - Valerie Travers

"I have always loved to draw the face and figure. If I'm not actually drawing from the posed model or sketching people going about their everyday lives, I'm probably thinking about it. I seldom miss an opportunity to draw or paint from life and I strive every day to capture not just a likeness of my subjects, but also the more elusive qualities of spirit, mood and emotion. Dyan is inspired by the beauty of a summer day or the innocence and awe she sees on a child's face.  That is what Dyan wants to capture in her paintings and convey that feeling to the viewer:  the same joy that she felt when she encountered the scene originally.    Many viewers say they love her paintings' vibrant colors and how they radiate “happiness”.

" I thank my great granddaddy for passing on the artistic genes to me; he is my guardian angel. His plain gray easel, spotted with his past smears, dots of painting, and little holes from pinning his reference materials to it is what I use; it makes me feel close to him. I still have some of his brushes, well-used, worn-out nubs that they are. One of my prized possessions is his pencil self- portrait. His favorite story told over and over when we visited him was about Van Gogh."- Jonelle McCoy

"I like to think of my work as a glimpse of the mystery.  The metaphors of life held in branches, cloud wisps, and water.  There is something that compels me to paint, not what is literally seen but what is felt.  For me, the window into the spiritual is nature. I believe God is talking, without words, through His creation.  Painting is my way of listening." - Dawn Waters Baker

"My paintings are a result of a thoughtful, ongoing, creative and intuitive process. Creating art is a spiritual journey. It is somewhat of a surprise where a painting will lead me. I find that my paintings are more vivid and saturated than real life. I see color in a subject and intensify those hues in a painting. One of my goals is to bring honor and respect to the subjects that I paint. As a creator of art, I want the viewer to have a positive connection with my paintings." Carol Jo Smidt

"My fascination with the cowgirl image began in my last year of college. I received an old postcard from a friend in a typical art student trade. He brought over a large box of stuff including some of his own pottery.  Near the bottom of the box were several old postcards, one of a cowgirl c. 1935 seated on a horse captioned "Greetings from a Real Cowgirl from the Ole Southwest".  The image spoke to me and I had no idea why.  Although I had grown up on a farming ranching operation in Texas we never really thought of ourselves as Western.  I surrendered to the attraction and as I used the Cowgirl in my art and I slowly filled in the blanks about my fascination with the imagery." ~Donna Howell Sickles

"I grew up in Central Russia, in small logging cabin of my grandfather, who was a professional forester and talented gardener. Our house was surrounded by beautiful birch woods and endless rows of flower beds what from early age I was in change to take care of … This is what I learned to love as a child and it is only natural that this is what I enjoy painting now. My favorite subjects are poetic landscapes and glowing florals. I explore those in variety of mediums and evenly enjoying working with oils and pastels. I’m thankful for this ability to see eternal beauty in simple things and being able to reflect it at my paintings, so for the moment others can see it too… through my eyes and my heart." - Tatiana Myers

"Sunlight fuels my passion to create art. I am fascinated by the way it passes through a transparent flower petal, how it dances through glass, warms the top of an apple and appoints sentiment to ordinary objects. Capturing that transformation when an object is illuminated into something previously unseen is what truly inspires me.  This Light is what drive me to share my perception with others; and is a reminder to cherish the nuances of life." -Linda McCoy

”My desire, though, is to stimulate art viewers to explore their own interpretation of my work.  When they connect with the art, I’ve succeeded. "The inspiration for my abstract work comes from my life experiences; travel, nature, my environment, all culminating in a magical sort of way. It is usually subconscious, and impetuous, sparked by something seemingly as trivial as a word or a feeling. I strive not to answer the question of what my images mean but to encourage the viewer's curiosity. When the work invokes the feeling of "curiouser and curiouser" (thank you Alice) then I have achieved my goal. " - Laura Reed
